Hypocrisy at its finest.

Lets give an example. Which of the following deals will you take?

a. Invest 1000 dollars in stocks of company A, and get back 10 dollars from dividends every year.
b. Invest 100 dollars in stocks of company B, and get back 10 dollars from dividends every year.

There's almost no one out there who would say to take 'a', simply because 'b' is a much better offer. However, consider each point as we proceed on;

1. Company B has decent finances. They can do well regardless of whether they receive cash funding or not. Will you still invest in company A/B?

2. If you don't invest in the stocks of company A, the company will close down and many people will lose their jobs! Will you still invest in company A/B?

3. Investing in Company A and Company B has an equal amount of risk. Either of the companies, have an equal calculated 10% chance of losing your entire investment each year. Will you still invest in Company A/B?

The point I like to bring out in this illustration is, that most people are selfish. When their personal liabilities are at stake, they will easily take what benefits them the most or cause them the least loss. When we talk about morals... we need to ask ourselves, what is morality?

Is human error ever justifiable?

Lets give a second scenario;

In a construction industry, a worker while working at the construction site was killed by a falling hammer because he was not wearing a helmet. Is there a human error here? Whose fault is it? Whose responsibility is it?

In this example, it is the manager's fault. It is the foreman's fault. They are the more experienced personnel whom understands the trade better and should have ensured that the worker was wearing a helmet. However, we can always say it was a hot day, people were tired, its a lunch break, he shouldn't be there anyway, etc etc etc.

What are you going to say to the parents who just lost a son? The wife who lost a husband? The family who lost their only source of income? The children who lost their father?

Could this accident be prevented? If it could be prevented why isn't it prevented?

How about this. Imagine you have your LIFE SAVINGS in the bank. It is one of the most esteemed bank in your country. Suddenly overnight, the bank just closes down due to insolvency , because all their positions in equity, in holdings was eroded by a recent economic recession. Are you going to accept that people make mistakes? And we should forgive people? After all, they are humans and humans are bound to make mistakes!

We need to learn to forgive people for honest mistakes? Swear upon all that is dear and holy unto yourself. If you will truly forgive them, for losing your life savings, I truly applaud the degree of compassion you have in your heart but I doubt you'll do that.

When you talk to me about accepting human mistakes, and being forgiving, you are being a hypocrite because I know deep down inside you, you won't accept it.

You don't practice what you preach. Go examine your own life and think about that 'friend' of yours whom you deliberately abandon in his hour of need. We can always say, everyone's human and everyone make mistakes. We need to learn to forgive people, they are human after all! Be compassionate.
