On War and Conflict.
It is very interesting that man's programmed instinct is fight or flight. Nearly always in history has man chosen ti fight, laying down an interesting pattern of development to follow.
One fights for right, one fights for freedom, one fights for peace... But can one really fight to end fighting? Or to end conflict? Or to end war?
It is easily seen on internet forums when imaginary egos are bruised, how easily words can fly and bans rapidly handed out over the most insignificant of issues! Imaginary space! Or internet.
However, fighting doesn't solve problems despite that fighting is often the solution taken to solve problems... And aggressively I might add.
In a determined attempt to prove our point we are aggressive, intolerant, condescending and all undesirable vice becomes us. However, if you want the other party to see eye to eye with you this is really not the method isn't it?
I do not advocate being a pacifist, that is hardly the a solution at all.
We work well with our friends because we have an understanding. If we can establish an understanding with parties of conflict we can resolve issues.
Let's talk about solving problems;
1) For instance, what is there to gain by argument? What will actually be caused by argument? Is this what you want?
2) Establish your desired goals and ask how can you work towards it? With what actions?
3) How can you work with the opposition to achieve those goals?
4) If that's not possible, can the opposition improve on the goals? Is that why there is disagreement?
5) Resolve issues and carry on. Ultimatums cause more conflict than solve issues. Balance oneself between indecisiveness and a need for things to take time to resolve itself.
This is something which I've thought about for quite some time.
