A gentle wind breezed,
Rustling the fallen leaves,
And heaven's eye hung low in the darkening sky.
The sad overtones coloured the dusk,
In a brilliant autumn passion.

Time has swept the memories away,
Turning the familiar into foreign, cold figures.
There is one more decision to make,
A little short cobbled path,
By the side of the arduous road.

A solemn melancholy lies at its end
With a simple surrender to a rueful end.
And through sacrifice brings some relief
To those whom virtue had vainly cared.
So he hopes.

That in the years to come,
The earth and the dream may be alike.
